
Spartans Claim Spot In National Rankings
April 8, 2009STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Tampa softball team moved into the national top-25 as it currently stands at No. 23 in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll.
After opening the season at No. 10, Tampa fell out of the rankings for the following five weeks. UT is joined by fellow Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Southern, who comes in at No. 16.
The Spartans currently carry a 24-6 overall record and are coming off a three-game sweep over Saint Leo in SSC action. UT has fared well against top competition, holding a 4-1 mark against top 25 opponents.
The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
