Tampa Falls to Nova SoutheasternDecember 3, 2011
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The University of Tampa swimming team stumbled against Nova Southeastern University as its No. 9 women fell 108.5 to 96.5 while its No. 13 men lost 140-65.
UT’s men won the first race of the contest, defeating NSU in the 400 Medley Relay with Berk Kahraman, Jonathan Wilks, Norbert Kovacs and Felipe Manzo finishing in 3:31.32. Kovacs also championed the 200 Free with a 1:43.50 showing.
In women’s action, freshman Erin Plachy won two events, including the 50 Free (24.64) and the 100 Free (54.25). Catherine Parker (200 Fly, 2:09.05) and Lisa Bero (200 Breast, 2:25.01) also won individual races for the Spartans.
The Spartans also won the women’s 400 Free Relay as Plachy, Kristine Kassl, Vicki Munson and Heather Glenday outswam the competition while finishing in a time of 3:37.54.
Tampa will return home to host Wright State University on Saturday. The meet is slated for 11 a.m., at the UT Swimming Complex. Tampa will offer a live video feed through tampaspartans.tv.
