Spartan Women Earn Spot on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced both its NCAA Division II Women’s Scholar Team of the Year and its all-academic teams for the 2011 cross country season.

The University of Tampa earned a spot on the all-academic team as a total of 124 institutions represented 23 conferences that compose the group.

Western State’s women’s team captured the top academic honor as it also finished as the national runner-up this fall. Their male counterparts were also named Scholar Team of the Year on Monday.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have tallied a team score at the NCAA Regional Championships.
