Brian Wright is in his first season as a student assistant coach after playing his senior season with the Spartans in 2011-12.
With Tampa as a senior, Wright appeared in 24 games, earning eight starts and averaged 15.6 minutes per game. He had a season high of 14 points at Nova Southeastern (2/11) and scored five or more points nine times. On the season, he recorded four or more rebounds eight times and had a perfect showing from the free throw line five times. Among his highlights were connecting on 2-of-2 3-point field goals at Nova Southeastern as he shot 60 percent or more from the field in nine games.
Prior to enrolling at UT, Wright attended the University of South Florida and Tallahassee Community College. At TCC, he played in six games in 2007-08 season and opened the year with seven points and a steal versus Surry CC.
A graduate of Bloomingdale High School, Wright averaged 12 points per game as a senior and was also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and recipient of a Bright Futures Scholarship The son of Rick and Kerry Wright is working towards completion of a degree in business management.
