The Tampa Rundown

ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week men's golf competed at the Panther Invitational where they finished fourth overall. The women's tennis team went 4-0 Monday through Thursday, defeating Eckerd 7-0, Valparaiso 5-2, Davis & Elkins 7-0, and Saginaw Valley 7-0. The No. 11 women's lacrosse team won both of their games against the Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions 16-4, and the Seton Hill Griffins 18-8. UT Baseball also won their game against the Griffins on Tuesday, 11-2. Then over the weekend, the squad went 3-0, sweeping Albany State in the series. The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team won their mid-week game in overtime 15-14, against the North Greenville University Crusaders. Softball defeated the No. 10 ranked Florida Tech Panthers in the weekend series 2-1. Finally, Beach Volleyball went a perfect 4-0 at the Battle on the Bay tournament. The sandy Spartans defeated the University of Tennessee-Martin 4-1, Webber International 5-0, the University of North Florida 4-1, and Florida Gulf Coast University 3-2. 


This Week's Events:

The No. 2 ranked Spartans have a busy week ahead. First, tonight Tampa welcomes Bridgeport for a 6:00 p.m. showdown. Then on Wednesday, UT will host Bentley, also at 6:00 p.m. Finally, on Friday and Saturday, the Spartans will travel to Saint Leo for the weekend series. Friday's game is slated for 6:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse:
Men's lacrosse will host the Westminster Griffins on Saturday, March 16that noon. 

Softball will host Southwest Minnesota State University on Tuesday for a doubleheader. The games will begin at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. respectively. Then on Saturday, the Spartans will travel to Boca Raton, Florida where they will face the Lynn Fighting Knights for a weekend series. 

Both the men's and women's swim teams have headed to Indianapolis, Indiana for the NCAA Championships. Prelims and Finals will take place at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. respectively Wednesday through Saturday. 

The women's tennis team is currently in Honolulu, Hawaii for a match against Chaminade tonight at 6:00 p.m. The Spartans will then travel to Oakland, California where they will take on the Holy Names Hawks on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

Both the men's and women's track teams will compete at the 49er Classic and the UCF Black and Gold Invitational. The teams will split up and half will travel to Charlotte, N.C. for the Classic, while the other half travels to Orlando, Florida for the UCF Invitational. 

Women's Basketball:
On Friday, the women's basketball team will take on the Lee University Flames in the first round of the NCAA South Regional. This game will take place in Lakeland, Florida at Florida Southern College with the start time to be announced. Should the Spartans advance, they will play again on Saturday. 

Women's Golf:
Today and tomorrow, the women's golf team is competing at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at the Golden Bear Club in Lake Butler, Florida. 

Women's Lacrosse:
The No. 11 Spartans welcome the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
