All mascot appearance requests must be submitted using the Spartacus Appearance Request Form.

Request Timeline

All requests should be received at least two weeks prior to the event. If any mascot request is made with less than two weeks’ notice, there will be an additional charge for Non-Profit and Campus groups. Submitting a request does not guarantee an appearance.

In the event that an appearance must be canceled, athletic department personnel must give two (2) days prior notice.

Mascot is available for appearances throughout the year, however, the summer months, as well as, Winter Break may be harder to fulfill an appearance request due to school being out of session.

Appearance Fees

Appearance fees vary based on the type of appearance.

Internal, non-profit, and University appearances are $50 per hour which is a discounted rate to cover costs incurred. If the request is not made with at least two weeks’ notice, the cost will be $75 per hour.

External appearances are $75 per hour for all appearances in Tampa.

Pricing for appearances outside of Tampa will be determined on a case by case basis.

Mileage and Parking Fees

Appearances out-of-area, defined as 20 + miles from the University of Tampa campus, will require the requester to pay the university mileage rate of 40¢ per mile directly to the mascot making the appearance.

Reimbursement for incurred parking fees is also the responsibility of the requestor. Any mileage fees and/or parking reimbursement are required at time of event and are to be paid directly to the mascot in cash/check.

Additional Appearance Requirements

Accurate directions, location, on-site contact and on-site phone number must be provided.

A University of Tampa Athletic Marketing liaison will join Spartacus for every appearance. On-site contact must be available to escort the mascot/liaison to and from their vehicle for security purposes.

A private and secure changing room must be provided for the mascot to change and keep belongings locked during the appearance. Water, preferably bottled, must be provided to the mascot.

The mascot cannot be required to be inside the suit for longer than a maximum of one hour at a time before taking a break. If the appearance is outdoors please allow extra breaks during that allotted time. The mascot is unable to perform in severe weather.

A friendly and safe environment must be maintained. Mascot reserves the right to walk away from any appearance deemed unsafe or harmful and refunds (if applicable) will not be granted.

Publicity/Marketing Restrictions

All publicity for the event, whether in advance or afterwards, which mentions an appearance by a mascot or uses university marks (logos), must be approved by the University of Tampa Athletics Department before use.
