Eli Thurmond Named SSC Pitcher of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa baseball player Eli Thrumond has been honored as the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Thurmond garners Pitcher of the Week by leading Tampa to a conference win at Palm Beach Atlantic last week. The Bradenton, Florida native gave the Spartans seven scoreless innings in his game-two start. He allowed one hit and no walks while fanning six batters. Thurmond finished as the winning pitcher in the 10-2 Tampa victory.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 20 - 26, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
