Dror Vaknin, Zach Kehler Claim Top Awards as All-SSC Men's Track Announced
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference is pleased to announce the All-Conference Men's Outdoor Track Awards following the 2026 season. Zach Kehler of the University of Tampa is named the Distance Runner of the Year, Derick Brown of Embry-Riddle earns Sprinter of the Year, Embry-Riddle's Luke Richardson takes Freshman of the Year. Dror Vaknin of Tampa and Mike Rosolino were picked as Co-Coach of the Year.
Among Tampa's all-SSC selections are William Poe (first team 3,000 Steeple), Zach Kehler (first team 1,500, 800, 5,000), Declan Fiorucci (second team 3,000 Steeple), Jacob Khashou (second team 100, second team 4x100), Luca Rius (second team 400H), Collin Kavulic (second team 4x100), Jayden Leonard (second team 4x100), Calvin Jordan (second team 4x100).
First Team and Second Team All-SSC honors reflect an athlete's finish at the league championship, held on Saturday, April 19, at the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex in Daytona Beach, Florida. Conference champions are named First Team, while second and third-place finishers earn Second Team laurels. A vote of league coaches following the championship determines the Outdoor Track superlatives.
After capturing conference titles in the 800, 1500, and 5000 meters at the SSC Championship, Kehler was named Distance Runner of the Year. The Austin, Texas native posted winning times of 1:51.74 in the 800, 3:48.21 in the 1500, and 15:03.68 in the 5000, with his 1500 performance marking a season best. Kahler's dominance across the distance events also earned him Male Athlete of the Meet honors.
Brown received Sprinter of the Year recognition after claiming both hurdle championships and helping Lynn secure the 4x100 relay title at the SSC Championship. In the 110 hurdles prelims, he recorded an NCAA qualifying time of 13.84 before winning the final in 14.06, finishing 0.41 seconds ahead of the runner-up. The freshman from Coconut Creek, Florida, also posted a season-best time of 53.79 in the 400 hurdles. Brown contributed to Lynn's victorious 4x100 relay team, which clocked a qualifying mark of 40.42.
Embry-Riddle freshman Luke Richardson was selected Freshman of the Year following an outstanding debut season in which he won the 100, 200, and both relay events at the SSC Championship. The Bethel, Connecticut native earned Male Freshman of the Meet honors after totaling 25 points for the Eagles. Richardson's winning 100-meter time of 10.15 set a new school record and qualified him for nationals. He added another title in the 200 with a time of 20.86 after previously posting a school-record 20.65 during the season to qualify for nationals in the event. Richardson also played a major role in Embry-Riddle's relay victories, helping the Eagles set a school record of 40.42 in the 4x100 and win the 4x400 in 3:12.65.
Vaknin was named Co-Coach of the Year after guiding Tampa to the SSC Championship team title, while Embry-Riddle's Mike Rosolino shared the honor after leading the Eagles to a runner-up finish. Tampa scored 114 points, edging Embry-Riddle by four points for the championship. Vaknin's squad excelled in the distance events, placing three runners among the top 10 in both the 1500 and 5000 while claiming three of the top five spots, including the top two finishes, in the 3000 steeplechase. Rosolino's Eagles dominated the sprint events, winning the 110 hurdles, 400, 100, 400 hurdles, 200, and both relays. Embry-Riddle also posted multiple scoring finishes in the hurdles, sprints, and relay events throughout the championship meet.
