HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | Barry was the first team to put points up on the board after they made a layup, but Molly Franson quickly tied the game with a jumper of her own. The Spartans and the Bucs traded baskets consistently through the first half, neither team securing a comfortable lead. At the end of the first, the teams were tied up at 19-19. Staja Tyghter led the Spartans in the first quarter with five points. The second quarter started out with a three point shot made by Barry only to be followed by a jumper from Tyghter. The Bucs went on a seven point run that left the Spartans scoreless for three minutes until Tyghter hit a jumper assisted by Karma Jeremie. The Bucs held on to their leading heading into halftime. Tyghter led the Spartans in the first half with 15 points.
2nd Half | Jeremie started the second half off with a layup, bringing the Spartans within three points of the Bucs. The Bucs mirrored the Spartans with a layup of their own before Rachel Warden sank a three pointer assisted by Jeremie. The majority of the third quarter comprised of the Spartans and the Bucs trading points, Barry keeping the Spartans at a consistent six point deficit. Despite a valiant effort by the Spartans in the fourth quarter, the Bucs went on to win 71-68.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyghter was the leading point scorer for the Spartans with 25 points.
- Jeremie was the second leading point scorer with 13 points.
- Rachel Warden led all Spartans defensively with eight rebounds.
