Austin, Texas - The fourth-ranked University of Tampa women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2006 season after dropping a 2-1 decision against 25th-ranked St. Edwards (Texas). The Spartans are now 3-1 on the season.
Following a St. Edwards goal at the 36:58 mark, Tampa freshman Jocelyn Charette nodded the score at one with an unassisted goal at 68:56. St. Edwards responded with the game-winner five minutes into the overtime period. Tampa's Shannon Aitken started in goal, recorded five saves as Tampa outshot its opponent 18-12 on the game.
Tampa returns to action on Sunday in the final game of the St. Edwards Tournament against Texas A&M-Commerce. The game is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 am CT.
