Bio
David Granados Doblas joined the University of Tampa swimming team as an assistant coach in September of 2024. In this position, he helps oversee both men's and women's teams, recruiting, and primarily works with stroke and distance groups.
Granados was a part of the coaching staff for the 2024-25 season, where both the men and women Spartans won the SSC Championships. Granados helped mentor sophomore Jacob Hamlin, who set NCAA Division II records in the 500 Freestyle (4:18.00) and the 1,650 Freestyle (14:50.36), winning national titles in both events. In addition, the men's 800 Freestyle Relay team won a national championship.
While not at UTampa, Granados is also an assistant coach for club team, Swim Tampa Aquatics (STA), where he has coached since moving to Tampa in 2024. Before Tampa, he was a head age group coach in Port Charlotte, FL for 3 years.
Granados graduated from Wingate University in Charlotte, NC in May of 2021, where he was a four-year letterwinner for the swimming program, as well as a 3-time NCAA DII participant and achieved All-American standards. Prior to Wingate, Granados grew up in Barcelona, Spain where his love for swimming started. He began swimming competitively at the age of 5, and was a member of the Spanish National Team for 3 consecutive years before coming to the States. David and his wife, Jaimy, reside in Tampa with their two cats, Pepe and Anakin.
