Tampa Swimming Continues to Extend Lead on Eve of Final Day at SSC Championships

OCALA, Fla. – The University of Tampa swimming programs extended their leads on both the men's and women's sides during Day Four of the Sunshine State Conference Championships, capitalizing on a podium sweep in the men's 500 free, a women's 100 backstroke 1‑2‑3, and high‑value relay finishes in a powerful Saturday night at the FAST Center.

Tampa captured two individual titles on the night, Jacob Hamlin in the men's 500 freestyle and Burlingtyn Bokos in the women's 200 butterfly, while the Spartans also posted silver‑medal efforts in both 200 free relays to keep control of the team race heading into Sunday's finale.

• 500 Freestyle: Jacob Hamlin led Tampa with a victory in 4:19.86, followed by Elliot Weisel (2nd, 4:23.05) and Barnabas Fluck (3rd, 4:23.17).
• 100 Backstroke: William Beckstead-Holman led Tampa with a runner‑up finish in 46.87. He was followed closely by Rufus Bernhardt (4th, 47.30). In the B‑final, Tampa continued to add depth with a performance from Mathias Holmann (9th overall, 48.87).
• 100 Breaststroke: Britton Spann led Tampa with a fifth‑place finish in 54.34. He was followed closely by River Streefland (9th overall, 54.55) and Kasparas Venslauskas (10th overall, 54.88). In the B‑final, Tampa continued to add depth with a performance from Jared Allison (13th overall, 55.85).
• 200 Butterfly: Aidan Clements led Tampa with a runner‑up finish in 1:45.77. He was followed closely by Nick Cavic (4th, 1:46.26) and Alfredo Dominguez (8th, 1:48.09). In the B‑final, Tampa continued to add depth with a performance from Josh Noll (11th overall, 1:48.98).
• 200 Freestyle Relay: Tampa's A‑relay led the Spartans with a runner‑up finish in 1:19.00 behind the quartet of Tibor Tistan, Riccardo Pandin, Nick Cavic, and Mathias Holmann. In the B‑final, Tampa continued to add depth with a performance from Alfredo Dominguez, Josh Noll, Rufus Bernhardt, and Elliot Weisel (9th overall, 1:21.98).

• 500 Freestyle: McKenna Patrick led Tampa with a third‑place finish in 4:54.91. She was followed closely by Laura Hodgson (4th, 4:56.28) and Alyssa Webb (5th, 4:59.21), while Morgan Wimberly added a sixth‑place effort in 5:00.01. In the B‑final, there were no Tampa swimmers competing.
