TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa athletic marketing department has announced plans for the annual Midnight Madness, signifying the start of practice season for the 2018-19 Tampa men's and women's basketball teams. The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 14 at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
The event is set to begin at 9 p.m., with live music outside of the Martinez Center until 10 p.m.
The Martinez Center doors will then open at 10 p.m., for the official beginning of festivities in the lobby. Midnight Madness will include free food and giveaways from sponsors and student organizations around campus, and also a photo booth.
The gym doors will open at 10:45 p.m., with official Midnight Madness programming set for 11 p.m., to midnight. The event will feature performances by Spartan cheer squad, Caribbean Dance Troupe, Unified Dance Crew, Scarlets Dance Team and the Spanish Dance Team.
There will be an official introduction to the Spartan men's and women's basketball teams. Following will be a 3-point shooting contest and fan interaction featuring a half-court shot and t-shirt toss.
