Tampa Basketball dives into conference play with back to back doubleheaders

Spartans basketball continues Sunshine State Conference play this week with home doubleheaders on Wednesday and Saturday at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. On Wednesday, January 7, the Spartans host the Saint Leo Lions in a conference doubleheader. The women's team will tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday's games will also serve as Military Appreciation Night, with all current and former U.S. military members and their families receiving free admission.
Action continues on Saturday, January 10th, as Tampa welcomes the Barry Buccaneers for another doubleheader. The women's game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., with the men taking the court at 4:00 p.m. Saturday will be Senior Citizen Day, offering free admission to fans aged 65 and older.
The women's team enters the week coming off an impressive 87–66 victory over Florida Tech, highlighted by strong performances from Giorgia Palmieri, Ryan Franklin, and Olivia Davis. Tampa holds an 8–6 overall record and is 3–2 in SSC play. Saint Leo enters Wednesday's matchup with a 5–5 overall record and a 2–3 conference mark. Barry's women's team will face Florida Southern on Wednesday and currently sits at 5–7 overall and 2–3 in conference play.
The men's team rides a four-game winning streak after a 78–65 win over Florida Tech, led by Ryan Blount, Camden McCormick, and Justin Taylor. Tampa holds an 8–4 overall record, is 2–3 in conference play, and boasts a strong 7–1 home record. Saint Leo enters the contest at 6–7 overall and 1–4 in SSC play. Barry's men's team will also face Florida Southern this week and currently owns a 6–7 overall record and a 1–4 conference mark.
