ST. LEO, Fla. – The University of Tampa beach volleyball team defeated Saint Leo University by a final score of 3-2, improving the teams overall record to 9-8.
This is the second time this season that the Spartans have defeated the lions 3-2. Similar to the last meeting, the same duos that won on March 26th also won today. All three of Tampa's wins came from matches that went to three sets.
The first win of the day came from partners Nylah Demps and Taylor George. This duo won in the fours position in three sets by scores of 18-21, 21-16, and 15-8. The Lions took the next two victories on both the twos and threes court. Alexandra Misca and Sarah Moore also won in three sets on the fives court by set scores of 21-19, 19-21, and 15-10. The deciding match of the day came down to the ones court, where Sorrel Houghton and Melissa Elias defeated the Lions in three. The freshman duo won their first set 21-19 before falling in the second 19-21 and then bouncing back in the third 15-12.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This is the second time this season that Tampa has defeated Saint Leo 3-2.
Tampa will travel to Tavares, Florida where the team will compete in the AVCA Small College Championships. The Spartans first dual will be against SSC rival, Florida Southern on Saturday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. Following this dual UT will then compete against Lincoln Memorial at 1:00 p.m.
