TAVARES, Fla. – The sandy Spartans are set to play Spring Hill College in the AVCA Small College Championship semifinals tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. This will be the first time this season that UT Beach will face the Badgers. Last year, Spring Hill defeated Tampa at the AVCA Small College Championships, 3-2, where the Spartans finished fourth at the championships in their inaugural season.
With two days of the AVCA Small College Championship having concluded, the University of Tampa enters competition tomorrow with a perfect 5-0 record. Not only is UT 5-0, but the team has also swept all of the opponents they have faced.
On day one of the championships, the sandy Spartans defeated Tusculum College, 3-0, and Principia College in a similar fashion. Today, the road to the semis came after the Spartans took down the Colorado Mesa Mavericks 4-0, the Carson-Newman Eagles 5-0, and the Saint Leo Lions 3-0.
Should the Spartans defeat the Badgers tomorrow in the semifinals, UT will face the winner of the Texas A&M University – Kingsville vs. Colorado Mesa University dual in the AVCA Small College Championship slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. All future duals will continue to be held at the Hickory Point Beach Sand Volleyball Complex in Tavares, Florida.
