Julia Oswald and Rachel Rosequist Earn AVCA National Pair of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time in program history, University of Tampa beach volleyball student-athletes, Julia Oswald and Rachel Rosequistearn AVCA national pair of the week honors. Not only are Oswald and Rosequist the first two Tampa players to ever receive this honor, but they are also the first two players from an NCAA Division II institution to receive this recognition on the 2019 season. Oswald and Rosequist are the second NCAA Division II pair to ever receive this honor.

Oswald and Rosequist earn this recognition after helping the University of Tampa beach volleyball program win the AVCA Small College Beach Championships. The two competed all weekend at the ones position for UT, where they went undefeated with a perfect 7-0 record. In fact, as a team, they did not drop a single match in all seven duals. Oswald and Rosequist won every set they played in a truly dominating fashion. Their combined point differential in the semifinals against Spring Hill and championship against Texas A&M Kingsville was +24.
This is the program's first AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com Pair of the Week award, and the second NCAA Division II school to take home the honor (Eckerd was the other).

May 8-11, the duo will continue to showcase their skillset, competing at the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships in Hermosa Beach, California. The Collegiate Beach Championships give women's and men's collegiate beach volleyball pairs a chance to shine and go head-to-head against other top collegiate pairs. The championship event gets top athletes in the national team pipeline and teams that medal at the event will be invited to train with the USAV Collegiate Beach National Team.

Both only freshmen, Oswald and Rosequist have an incredibly bright future ahead of them at the University of Tampa.
