Tampa Opens the Season With Two Victories
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa beach volleyball team has a strong start to the 2026 season, starting 2-0 after sweeping both Mercer and Barry.
The Spartans controlled the morning match from the start versus Mercer, winning all five flights in straight sets to secure the shutout victory.
Tampa's No. 2 pair of Lauren Duke and Jordan Berglin highlighted the day with a hard-fought victory, battling through a tight contest to win 21-19, 21-17, 15-13. Nevaeh Wolfe and Hailey Wolfe set the tone early, earning a decisive 21-19, 21-7 win at the No. 1 position.
At No. 3, Kaelyn Fredette-Huffman and Hailey Peterson delivered a commanding performance, cruising to a 21-12, 21-15 victory. Tess Schrenger and Angel Williams followed with another strong showing in the No. 4 spot, winning 21-14, 21-15.
The Spartans completed the sweep at No. 5, where Madison Hankins and Lauren Cook secured the final point with a 21-17, 21-14 win.
In the second match of the day for the host Tampa, Sammie Ostrander and Brooke Green battled through a tightly contested second set after taking the opener 21-14. The duo closed out the match 23-21 to secure the first point for the Spartans.
The No. 2 pair of Tess Schrenger and Angel Williams followed with a composed performance, defeating Marina Azevedo and Alexis Hansen 21-13, 21-18 to extend the lead. The pair collected their second victory of the day.
At No. 3, Taylor Bedinghaus and Logan Martin handled business efficiently, posting a 21-11, 21-19 victory to put Tampa firmly in control of the dual.
Lauren Duke and Jordan Berglin dominated in the four position, cruising to a 21-11, 21-11 straight-set win with aggressive play at the net and strong defensive communication.
Bella Rosillo and Mary Claire Oswald were nearly flawless at No. 5, allowing just 15 combined points in a commanding 21-10, 21-5 performance.
