Spartans Hold Eighth Spot In Regional Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - With nine regular season games remaining, The University of Tampa baseball team is ranked eighth in the latest NCAA II South Region rankings.
With a 32-12 overall record, the Spartans are also ranked No. 19 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.
The top eight teams in the region will compete in the NCAA South Regional, which is scheduled for May 14-18 at a campus site. An automatic bid will be given to the champions of the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), Gulf Coast Conference (GSC) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
UT will entertain Rollins College in the final home series of the 2009 season. The series will begin on Friday at 7 p.m. as Saturday's doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. Saturday will also serve as senior day for Tampa.
