Spartans To Host 2010 NCAA II South Regional
INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Tampa baseball team has been selected to host the 2010 NCAA II South Regional, the NCAA announced Sunday night. It marks the fourth time in the past five seasons that Tampa has served as the host site.
The Spartans will be the No. 2 seed in the regional and will open the tournament against seventh-seeded Florida Tech. The two teams met four times in the regular with the Spartans taking each of the contests.
The No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year is Southern Arkansas. The third seed will be Valdosta State - champions of the Gulf South Conference. Florida Southern earned the No. 4 seed while Rollins is the fifth seed. West Florida grabbed the No. 6 seed and the field is rounded out by Albany State. The No. 8 seed earned the automatic bid after winning the SIAC championship.
The tournament begins on Thursday, May 13. Full details concerning the 2010 South Regional will be posted on www.tampaspartans.com on Monday.
