As a Junior (2010): Accumulated a 0.76 ERA in 15 appearances as a Spartan…Struck out 24 batters in 23.2 innings pitched…Allowed only two earned runs on the season after facing 81 batters…Recorded a team-high 10 saves…Had at least one strikeout in 12 of his 15 appearances…Pitched four perfect innings in his first three appearances…Had a season-high four strikeouts in 3.0 innings versus Lynn (3/20)…Recorded his first save with Tampa against Nova Southeastern (3/14)…Struck out the only three batters he faced in a game versus Nebraska-Omaha (3/16).

High School: Competed for Sarasota High School and head coach Clyde Metcalf...Was a first-team all-state selection as a senior and an EA Sports Second Team All-American...Helped guide the Sailors to the 2007 6A state championship title...Went 10-1 on the mound with an ERA under 0.80, including getting the win in the state semifinal against Miami Palmetto...Also had a RBI triple and scored a run in the 2-0 semifinal victory...Finished senior year with a batting average over .400 and five home runs...Hit .387 with seven homers and 31 RBI as a junior, en route to being named to the all-state third team...Capped junior season with third-team all-state selection…Lifted Sarasota to the 2006 6A state finals by clubbing a two-run homer in a semifinal win versus DeLand.
