Spartans Sweep Player of the Week Accolades After Clinching Conference Crown

ORLANDO, Fla. - After winning the program's 14th Sunshine State Conference championship, the University of Tampa baseball team was honored with a pair of SSC Player of the Week honors for Heath Pritchard and Ben O'Shea.

With the SSC title on the line, UT senior designated hitter Pritchard (Nassau, Bahamas) helped lead the No. 2 Spartans to a series sweep over No. 9 Nova Southeastern. Pritchard batted .556 with four RBI and seven runs scored. He hit safely in all three games, posting a .615 on-base percentage. He also belted three home runs en route to a 1.556 slugging percentage. Pritchard had one homer in a 10-1 Tampa win in the opening game of the series and then slammed a pair of home runs in a 12-4 victory in the finale.

O'Shea, a junior southpaw from Reading, Mass., picked up the win in No. 2 Tampa's 10-1 victory in the series opener versus No. 9 Nova Southeastern. Pitching seven innings, O'Shea scattered six hits with one walk. He struck out seven Shark batters.

After outscoring the nation's No. 7 team by a 42-10 clip in a three-game series, UT will now focus its attention towards the NCAA Division II South Regional, which is scheduled for May 17-20. The official announcement will take place Sunday on NCAA.com as Tampa hopes to host the eight-team regional.
