Andrew Amaro Selected SSC Baseball Player of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Andrew Amaro (Sr., Bensalem, Pa.) of the University of Tampa is the SSC Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Liam O'Sullivan (Sr., South Grafton, Mass.) of Saint Leo University is named the SSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the first time.

Amaro and O'Sullivan were selected SSC Athletes of the Week from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 27-May 3.

Amaro went 6-for-9 with four RBIs, seven runs, a 1.333 slugging percentage, and a .824 on base percentage in three games against Rollins last weekend. In game one against the Tars, the senior went 3-for-4 and was a single away from the cycle to lead the Spartan offense to 11 runs in the loss. Amaro showed patience at the plate in game two on his way to six plate appearances with no registered at bats (four walks, two hit by pitches). He also recorded three stolen bases off three attempts as Tampa went on to win 10-9.

O'Sullivan wins his first weekly honor this season after a complete game outing against Palm Beach Atlantic last week. Over the nine innings, the senior gave up one run off eight hits and tallied eight strikeouts. This was his third complete game of the season that he's thrown without surrendering a walk.
