TAMPA, Fla.. - The No. 2 University of Tampa Spartans hit four Home Runs as they defeat the Bridgeport Purple Knights 10-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  •  Nick Derr led off the day for the Spartans with a Little League Home Run, hitting a triple and then scoring on a throwing error. | 1-0 Tampa
  • The Spartans added three runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a two-RBI Home Run by Derr. | 4-0 Tampa
  • Luis Medina hit a two-run Home Run in the bottom of the third to increase the Spartan's lead. | 6-0 Tampa
  • The Purple Knights scored a run in the top of the fourth. | 6-1 Tampa.
  • Derr hit his second Home Run of the day, increasing the Spartans' lead in the bottom of the fourth. | 8-1 Tampa
  • Bridgeport rallied in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs. | 8-6 Tampa.
  • Luke McDonald hit a solo Home Run in the bottom of the fifth, increasing the Spartan lead. | 9-6 Tampa
  • The Purple Knights fought back in the top of the seventh, tacking on another run. | 9-7 Tampa
  • Mikey Navarette scored in the bottom of the eighth courtesy of a Drew Ehrhard safety squeeze bunt. | 10-7 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS:

  •  Derr hit two Home Runs for the Spartans, along with a triple, going 3 for 3 with four RBI's and three runs scored.
  • Medina hit his first Home Run as a Spartan, batting 1 for four with 2 RBI's and one run.
  • McDonald batted 2 for four on the day, with a Home Run, scoring two runs and one RBI.

OUTSIDE THE BOX:

  • McDonald's Home Run was the first of his collegiate career.
