C.J. Williams Named South Region POTY, Multiple Spartans Named To All-South Region Teams
Tampa, Fla - The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region teams and CCA All-America Teams have been released for the 2025 season. Tampa Spartans Baseball had multiple players be named to respective teams based on their elite performances throughout the season. C.J. Williams and J.D. Urso were two of 18 players in the country to receive honors as members of both the ABCA/Rawlings South Region First Team and CCA All-America team. Jordan Williams, Brayden Woodburn, and Jake Stipp were each named to ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team.
C.J. Williams - The 2025 Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Year capped off his outstanding year by being named to both the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II South All-Region First Team and CCA All-America Second Team. Williams has also been awarded the 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II South Region Pitcher of the Year for his outstanding work on the mound. Over a total of 105.1 innings pitched this season, C.J. holds a 13-3 record with a 2.73 ERA. He has punched out 95 batters which is good enough for a 8.2 K/9, which leads the south region. Williams has also only walked 25 batters out of the 433 he faced this season. C.J. Williams will look to continue his dominance on the rubber this weekend as he takes the ball for game one at the Division II College World Series for Tampa.
J.D. Urso - Urso was named to ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II South Region First Team and a CCA All-America Honorable Mention for his fantastic season at the plate and in the field. The Tampa native was the only Spartan to play in every game this season while holding a .365 batting average. J.D. led the Spartans in slugging (.655) and extra base hits (36) while also showing his toughness with a team high 16 HBP. Urso also hit eight home runs this season helping him lead the team in runs batted in with 62. Defensively, J.D. played all over the field, assisting or collecting 200 total defensive outs for Tampa. J.D. Urso has been a huge part of the Spartans success this season and will look to continue his elite season at the Division II College World Series in Cary, North Carolina this upcoming week.
Jordan Williams - Jordan Williams has earned a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II South Region Second Team for his elite body of work this season.The Senior Transfer made a huge impact on the Spartans but most notably, he set the single season stolen base record just 36 games into the season. His speed on the bases was unmatched as he led the entire country with 78 successful steals. He reached this number in only 55 games while also leading the team in hits (78) and being second in batting average (.363). To go along with his elite speed, Williams showed his true power in the box this season as well totaling 22 extra base hits and 5 homeruns. Jordan played all over the outfield this season with perfection, earning a 1.000 fielding percentage on 78 total chances including throwing out three runners. Williams mix of elite
Brayden Woodburn - In his second year with the Spartans, Brayden Woodburn was an instrumental part of the team's success. Woodburn played in 54 games this season for Tampa, boasting a team leading .370 batting average. Brayden was also second on the team with 52 runs batted in and third on the team in slugging with a .566. Woodburn is also peaking at the right time as 5 of his 7 home runs came in the last five games during the NCAA South Regional and Super Regional. On the defensive side, Woodburn showcased his ability to play anywhere that was needed as he spent time in five different positions while only being charged with 5 errors on 178 chances. Brayden will look to stay hot at the plate as he leads Tampa on their quest for a second straight national title.
Jake Stipp - Jake Stipp has been named to ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II South Region Second Team for being one of the most productive pitchers in the country. He started 15 games for the Spartans posting a perfect record of 11-0 while also picking up a save in his only save opportunity. In his second year with Tampa with 17 appearances, Stipp tossed 84.1 innings with 66 strikeouts and a 3.09 ERA. As the game three starter for most of the year, Stipp helped the Spartans win all but one series on the year and posted a 2-0 record in the post season. Jake Stipp will be a key arm for the Spartans as they look to capture a second straight national championship.
