Brayden Heidel Signs Free Agent Deal With Toronto Blue Jays
TORONTO - University of Tampa pitcher Brayden Heidel has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, and will be assigned to a minor league team within the organization.
Heidel, who just completed his senior season with the Spartans, was a key reliever for the national championship team. Appearing in 8 games on the mound, he recorded a 2-0 win-loss record. He had a 3.86 ERA over 14.0 innings pitched and struck out 15 batters.
Among Heidel's top games were earning the win with 2.0 scoreless innings and 2 strikeouts in the NCAA national championship game against Central Missouri on June 7. He also tossed 3.0 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts in a 25-4 win over Albany State in the NCAA South Regional.
