Four Spartans Earn D2 Baseball All-America Honors Following Historic National Championship Season
TAMPA, Fla. — Fresh off the program's historic third consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship, the University of Tampa baseball team placed four student-athletes on the 2026 D2 Baseball All-America Teams.
Graduate left-hander B.J. Bailey earned First Team All-America honors, while junior left-hander Robert Satin and junior two-way standout Luke Fikar were selected to the Second Team. Senior infielder Brayden Woodburn rounded out Tampa's selections with Third Team All-America recognition.
The four honorees helped lead the Spartans to a 51-9 record, a sixth consecutive Sunshine State Conference championship, and an NCAA Division II-record 11th national title. Tampa also became the first NCAA Division II baseball program to win three consecutive national championships and the first NCAA baseball program to accomplish the feat since USC won five straight national titles from 1970-74.
B.J. Bailey was honored as a first-team All-American. A graduate left-hander from Woodruff, South Carolina, Bailey capped his lone season with the Spartans by earning First Team D2 Baseball All-America honors. The Clemson transfer emerged as one of the nation's premier pitchers, compiling a 13-1 record with a 2.25 ERA across 116.0 innings while striking out 110 batters and holding opponents to a .212 batting average. Bailey surrendered just 29 earned runs all season and ranked among the national leaders in victories, ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts, and opponent batting average. He earned Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Year honors and anchored a Tampa pitching staff that posted a 3.04 team ERA during its national championship campaign.
Earning second-team honors was Robert Satin. A junior left-hander from Tampa and Plant High School, Satin established himself as one of the nation's most dependable starters throughout the 2026 season. The former University of Florida pitcher finished 13-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 113.2 innings while recording a team-best 114 strikeouts against only 20 walks. Satin tossed two complete games, one shutout, and limited opponents to a .242 batting average while helping the Spartans capture a third consecutive national championship. His 13 victories tied for the team lead, while his strikeout total ranked among the best in NCAA Division II baseball. Satin earned First Team All-Sunshine State Conference and First Team All-South Region honors before adding Second Team All-America recognition.
Also receiving second-team recognition was Luke Fikar, a junior two-way standout from Tampa and Sickles High School. Fikar earned Second Team All-America recognition after making a significant impact both on the mound and at the plate. As a pitcher, he posted a perfect 5-0 record with a 1.96 ERA and seven saves in 22 appearances, striking out 42 batters in 46.0 innings while holding opponents to a .193 batting average. Offensively, Fikar batted .296 with 29 hits, 22 runs scored, and 16 RBI. His postseason performance elevated him to national prominence, as he earned Most Outstanding Player honors at the NCAA Division II National Championship Series after helping Tampa become the first NCAA Division II baseball program to win three consecutive national championships. Fikar was also named to the NCAA Championship Series All-Tournament Team.
After winning his third national championship, Brayden Woodburn was honored as a third-team All-American. A senior from Winter Springs, Florida, Woodburn concluded one of the most decorated careers in Tampa baseball history with Third Team All-America honors. The former State College of Florida standout led the Spartans with a .399 batting average and 87 hits while adding 78 runs scored, 56 RBI, 13 doubles, 10 home runs, and a .615 slugging percentage. Woodburn also posted a .516 on-base percentage, drew 44 walks, stole 20 bases, and finished among the Sunshine State Conference leaders in numerous offensive categories. During Tampa's championship run, he earned NCAA Division II National Championship Series All-Tournament Team honors and became just the 21st player in program history to record 200 career hits. Woodburn helped lead the Spartans to three consecutive 50-win seasons and three straight national championships.
The All-America honors are the latest recognition for one of the most accomplished teams in NCAA Division II baseball history. Tampa finished the season 51-9 overall and 27-3 in Sunshine State Conference play while winning its sixth consecutive SSC championship. The Spartans led NCAA Division II with 503 runs scored and posted a .313 team batting average while compiling a 3.04 team ERA. Tampa recorded its third consecutive 50-win season and the sixth 50-win campaign under head coach Joe Urso.
The Spartans capped their historic season by defeating West Chester University in the NCAA Division II National Championship Series to secure the program's NCAA Division II-record 11th national championship. Tampa became the first NCAA Division II baseball program to win three consecutive national championships and the first NCAA baseball team to achieve the feat since USC won five straight titles from 1970-74.
