ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team needed a strong second half to propel them to a 60-49 victory over Florida Memorial in the final day of the Eckerd Thanksgiving Classic. The victory lifts the Spartans to 5-1 on the season.
After falling behind in the first half and carrying a 12-point deficit into the half, the Spartans scored 40 second-half points while holding the Lions to a 17 point half. Jeremy Black led the Tampa attack, scoring 18 in the second half.
Black joined Chris Evans as leading scorers with 18 apiece. Both also recorded double-doubles as Black grabbed 16 rebounds as Evans had 12.
