Chris Evans Earns Player of the Week Honors
Tampa, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced its initial Player of the Week awards, naming UT men's basketball player Chris Evans as the league's top player for the week ending on November 19.
Evans, who hails from Tampa, fell one point shy of posting three straight 20-point games last week, while turning in a two double-doubles as Tampa opened the year 2-1. Evans, who averaged 24.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 3.0 assists per game for the week, started off with 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in a 73-69 win over Palm Beach Atlantic in a tuneup for the UT Tip-Off Classic, in which he would earn MVP honors. Evans recorded 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a 76-70 win over Goldey-Beacom. He then erupted for a career-high 35 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in a tough 75-72 double-overtime loss to West Georgia. Evans added three assists in each of the three games.
