Tampa Basketball Adds Local Transfer Jordan Davis
TAMPA, Fla. - University of Tampa men's basketball coach Richard Schmidt has announced the addition of Jordan Davis to his program. Davis will enroll in the fall of 2013 and be eligible for the upcoming season.
"We are very excited to add Jordan and think that he will add another dimension to our team," says Schmidt. "With 10 letterwinners returning, we feel that Jordan can really help us become a better team and improve on our 17-win season from a year ago."
A native of Tampa and graduate of Sickles High School, Davis recently attended the College of Central Florida, where he led the team to a NJCAA national championship as a sophomore. In 23 games at CCF, Davis averaged 6.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He ranked 20th in the nation in assists.
As a freshman at Monmouth University, Davis saw action in 14 games during the 2010-11 season. Also starting five games, Davis averaged 6.5 points to go with 47 assists and 19 steals. Among his starts were a pair against Rutgers and Villanova. He twice scored a season-high 12 points as a freshman.
A four-year letterwinner at Sickles High School, Davis led the Gryphons to a 94-23 mark as a starting point guard during each season. The team won four district titles, and claimed a state runner-up finish in 2010. Davis averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds in his senior season. Following his senior campaign, he was named Tampa Tribune, St. Petersburg Times, American Conference and Suncoast Player of the Year.
