Spartans Ready to Play with Fire

TAMPA, FLA. - The University of Tampa men's basketball team is set to open up their season tomorrow against Southeastern University (2-0) at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. Tipoff will be at 7 p.m.

The Spartans have been truly tested during the preseason as they are coming off contests against two NCAA Division I programs. The exhibition play highlighted individual skill and a more structured offense.

Seniors Da'Markco Foster and Ryan Kidd have taken on new leadership roles, exemplified through their play and movement on the court. Foster led the squad in scoring last season, averaging 15.9 points per game.

Tampa is 5-1 in the all-time series versus Southeastern. The Spartans trumped the Fire 65-56 during their last meeting on 11/20/12.

The Spartans will play their next three games at home. Tickets are available at the gate for $5. Children 12-and-under will be admitted free. UT faculty, staff and students are admitted free when displaying a valid Spartan ID card.
