Spartans Set To Host Tampa Classic

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa Spartans (4-4) are set to host the 2014 Tampa Classic on Saturday and Sunday at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. Joining Tampa in the Classic will be SSC foe Eckerd College Tritons (5-3), Cedarville University Yellow Jackets (3-8), and Limestone College Saint(2-7).
The Spartans are coming off of a 79-76 overtime victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville. Senior Eugene McCrory led the way for UT as he put up a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Austin Rettig also contributed with 21 points for Tampa.
On the Season, McCrory leads the team and is second in the conference with 18.9 points per game. McCrory has scored in double digits in all eight games this season, including a season high 29 points against Southeastern on November 18th. Senior Jordan Davis ranks first in the conference and 12th in the nation with 6.6 assists per game.
Tampa opens up against Limestone on Saturday and squares off against Cedarville on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to tipoff at 4:00 PM.
