TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will host the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday February 8th. The women will compete at 5:30 pm and the men will have their matchup at 7:30 pm.

Last Time Out (Women's): The Spartans traveled to Daytona Beach where they took on the Embry-Riddle Eagles. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead on the Spartans and never looked back as they maintained the lead throughout the entire game. Senior Elena de Alfredo led the Spartans offense as she recorded 10 points and five rebounds.
Last Time Out (Men's): The Spartans took on Embry-Riddle and put up a tough battle but ended up falling to the Eagles 82-75. Senior Austin Rettig was the leading point scorer with 23. Junior Marcel Robinson was the next leading point scorer with 17 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Freddy Ibrahim tallied his first double-double of his career with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
About the Spartans (Women's): The Spartans are led offensively by senior de Alfredo who is second in the SSC for points per game with 16.1. She is followed by junior Karma Jeremie and Faith Sanders with 12.9 and 11.1, respectively. As a team, the Spartans are averaging 65.6 points per game and have a 47.6 field goal percentage.
About the Spartans (Men's): UT is led offensively by junior Marcel Robinson, tallying 14.5 points per game. He is followed by sophomore Pat Bacon and junior Duke Shelton, both with 13.8 points per game. Shelton sits in first place in the SSC for rebounds with 9.7 per game and in second place for blocked shots with 1.3 per game. As a team, the Spartans are second in conference for field goal percentage with 48 percent.
