First Day Complete at Spartan Invitational
TAMPA, Fla. - After the first two rounds of the 2007 Spartan Invitational, Sunshine State Conference schools represent the top three spots. At the event hosted by The University of Tampa, Florida Tech, Lynn and Eckerd are the top three teams heading into tomorrow's final and deciding round.
At 592, Florida Tech has the overall lead by one shot over Lynn, who led following a 292 in round one. Eckerd holds the third spot at 600. Brevard CC is number four as Rollins and Webber are tied for fifth, followed by Saint Leo, Tampa, St. Thomas and Johnson & Wales.
A pair of Lynn players shot the top rounds on the day as Scott Aydelotte shot a 68 to lead round one. In the second round, teammate Devin Kay registered the best score of the day at 67. Heading into the final round, the duo is tied for the top spot at 140.
The host Spartans were led by Nicolas Jutigny, who shot a 148 to earn a tie for seventh place. Futigny shot UT's top round as he finished the day with a 73 after shooting a 75 in round one. Kris Shane, who is tied for 18th place with a 151, marks the second Spartan in the top 20. Shane remained consistent on the day, shooting a 75 and 76 respectively.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at Rogers Park.
