Kris Shane and Ryan Barnett Help UT to Top Five Finish
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa golf team finished the Titan Winter Invitational with a fifth place overall performance, fueled by the efforts of freshman Kris Shane and Ryan Barnett.
Shane and Barnett tied for fourth place in the field of 74 with 223. At +3, the pair were Tampa's lone top 20 finishers. Shane shot his top round with a 72 in the first round while displaying consistency with following rounds of 73 and 74. After shooting a 73 in round one, Barnett answered with his top round, with a 72 in the second round. He finished the even with a 74 on the final day.
Freshman Nicolas Jutigny finished 21st with a final score of 226 (+10). After a 76 and 78 in the first two rounds, he finished strong with a 72 in round three.
Other Spartans to compete were Chad Bouchard (237, +21), Tom Rourke (248, +32) and Kyle Roy (253, +37).
UT is back in action on February 24-25 as it heads to Lake Wales for the Webber Invitational.
