Nicolas Jutigny Leads Saint Leo Invitational Heading Into Final Round
SAINT LEO, Fla. - After two rounds of play, University of Tampa golfer Nicolas Jutigny ranks first of 52 participants at the 2009 Saint Leo Invitational. The Spartans are fourth of 10 teams in the event played at Lake Jovita Golf Club.
After an opening round score of 310, UT finished the day with a 301 in the second round. The Spartans were second among all teams in round two as it concluded the day with a 611. Saint Leo (598), Brevard Community College (605) and Webber International (609) came in ahead of Tampa. Warner, Johnson & Wales, Webber International (B), Saint Leo (B), Eckerd and Ave Maria also competed.
Tampa's Nicolas Jutigny, a junior from Bossey, France, opened the day with a 70 and responded with a 73 in the second round to finish day one as the tournament's overall leader. With a 143 (-1), Jutigny is two strokes ahead of Saint Leo's Mark McGuire and J.P. Albuquerque as he aims to capture his first tournament championship.
UT's Kyle Roy joined Jutigny in the top 10 as he finished the day at 153 (+9). Roy enters the final round in an eighth place tie. Kris Shane is tied for 11th at 154 (+10) as Eric Snow stands at number 20 with a 158 (+14).
Charlie Green rounded out Tampa's top five with a 165. Scott Serwa (166) and Josh Detmer (167) also competed for the Spartans.
