Spartan Golfers Conclude Final Tune-Up Before Postseason Play
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team turned in its best scores of the season in a 13th-place finish at the Buccaneer Invitational by Carrabbas, which was hosted by Barry University at Normandy Shores Golf Course.
UT finished the three-round event with its top score of the year on Tuesday, carding a team score of 300. The Spartans shot a 302 and 304 on Monday to finish at 906, or +54. Barry took the team championship with an 841.
Jeff Baulet, Mark Cleary and Taylor Noel led the Spartans, with each shooting a 225 to finish 52nd overall. Noel turned in the top round for Tampa, shooting a 72 in the final round.
Steven Embree (232), Kevin Genuardi (233) and Parker Wingfield (237) also competed for head coach Rick Christie's Spartans.
With the 2011-12 regular-season complete, the Spartans will now focus on the 2012 Sunshine State Conference Championships, which it will host at The Concessions Golf Course in Bradenton, Fla. The event is slated for April 15-17.
