Second Place Finish for Spartans at Start 2 Finish Invitational

LAKE WALES, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team finished as the runner-up at the 11th Annual Start 2 Finish Invitational, which was hosted by Webber International University at Lake Wales Country Club.

The Spartans finished with a total score of 916 (+52) following rounds of 304, 313 and 299. Webber won the team title with a score of 896 (+32). WIU also carded the top team round with a 288 in the second round.

Senior Steve Embree led the Spartans with a 225 (+9) to finish fifth overall. Jason Steele scored a 72 in the final round to notch a team-best score. Steele finished at 230 for an 11th-place finish.

Also golfing for the Spartans were Gray Barnes (232), Will Monnery (233), Danny Syring (236), Justin Elwell (237) and Grant Heelan (262).

The Spartans are back in action on March 1-3 at the Warner Invitational. The event will be played at Sun and Lake Golf Course in Sebring, Fla.
