Tampa Matches Up With Regional Foes at UNA Spring Classic
The Spartans traveled to North Alabama to compete with several top regional opponents.
MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's golf team finished 15th at the University of North Alabama Spring Classic, which was a three-round event at Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals.
NCAA South Region foes Lee University (Tenn.) and host UNA shot an 865 to win the team title as UT carded a 955.
Dan Syring led the Spartan lineup with a three-round score of 232. He finished 52nd overall as his third round score of 74 marked the top overall round for Tampa's top five.
Also competing for UT were Gray Barnes (240), Jason Steele (244), Zach Schuster (245) and Justin Elwell (246).
Jacques Celestino competed as an individual and finished in 32nd place with a 227. His second-round 71 was the top round for UT at the tournament.
UT has one remaining regular season match as it heads to North Miami for the Barry Invitational on Nonday and Tuesday. The tournament will be played at Duran Golf Course.
