Spartans Finish Strong at Buccaneer Invite
Danny Syring shot a third-round 69 to lead all Tampa golfers.
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team improved two spots on the final day to place 14th at the Buccaneer Invite. The three-round event was hosted by Sunshine State Conference opponent Barry University at Normandy Shores Golf Club.
Tampa shot rounds of 294, 302 at 293 to finish at 889. SSC foes Nova Southeastern University (846) and Lynn University (850) occupied the top two spots in the team standings.
Danny Syring paced the Spartans as the junior finished 31st overall with a total score of 217. Syring shot a 74 in each of Monday's rounds and concluded play Tuesday with a 69 to mark the top Spartan round.
Justin Elwell (219), Zach Schuster (226), Jason Steele (233) and Jacques Celestino (237) also competed in the UT lineup as individual Gray Barnes carded a 221 for Tampa.
UT will now shift its focus towards the 2016 Sunshine State Conference Championships, which will be played April 17-19 at Crandon Golf Course in Key Biscayne, Fla.
