Tampa Posts Top-10 Finish in Season Opener
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team opened the 2015-16 campaign with a ninth-place showing at the Flagler Invitational.
The Spartans fired rounds of 299, 297 and 290 to come in at 866 (+22). West Florida won the team title with an 852 (-12). Fellow Sunshine State Conference opponents Rollins (859) and Eckerd (912) also competed.
Bobby Ray was the top UT golfer, carding a three-round total of 221 (+5) to finish 23rd overall. Jason Steele notched the top round for Tampa with a second-round score of 70.
Also participating for Tampa was Danny Syring (222), Steele (224), Justin Elwell (225), Zach Schuster (225) and Gray Barnes (232).
The Spartans return to play on September 28-29 at the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Fla.
