Hurtado Leads Spartans in Deep Field at Battle at the Lakes
MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's golf team finished 11th (+22) at the Battle at the Lakes, held March 30 at Miami Lakes Golf Club, facing one of the strongest regional fields of the spring.
The Spartans posted an 886 team total (292–295–299) on the 7,129‑yard, par‑72 Black Course, competing against 18 teams, including several nationally ranked programs.
The three‑round event featured USC Beaufort (#27), Saint Leo (#18), Nova Southeastern (#11), Keiser (#1), Barry (#16), Palm Beach Atlantic (#42), Lynn (#34), Rollins (#25), Eckerd (#49), and others.
Hurtado Posts Top Finish for Tampa
Martin Hurtado paced the Spartans with Tampa's best individual result, finishing T13 at –1 (74–71–70). Hurtado closed with a 2‑under 70 in Round 3, climbing the leaderboard and finishing just one stroke off the top 10.
Spartans Show Consistency Across Lineup
Linus Landahl and Mohit Balaji both turned in steady performances, each finishing T44 at +7. Landahl posted rounds of 73, 76, and 74, while Balaji opened with an even‑par 72 before closing with matching efforts to remain inside the top half of the field.

T79. Kyle Honer – 233 (+17). Rounds: 81, 74, 78. Honer closed with a five‑stroke improvement from his opening round.
