Tampa Welcomes Defending Champion Limestone
TAMPA, Fla. - The fourth ranked University of
Tampa Spartans are set to welcome the top-ranked Limestone College
Saints to the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex on
Saturday. This will be a rematch of last season's NCAA Semifinal
match, in which Limestone won 14-10.
Tampa comes into this game at 2-0, after defeating Queens 20-4 in
its season opener last week, and defeating Tusculum in its home
opener 14-8. The Spartans are led by Conor Whipple, who earned
conference player of the week honors for his performance last week.
Whipple comes into the game with 11 points, as he has netted seven
goals, and dished out four assists. Zak Goldbach is second on the
team with six goals on the season, while Chris Vetter is second in
points with eight, as he has scored five goals, and collected three
assists.
Limestone comes into the game at 1-0, as the defeated No. 15 ranked
Lenoir-Rhyne 17-16 on the road last week. Jordan Saunderson leads
the way for the Saints, as he has racked up four goals and one
assists.
