Spartans Welcome Emmanuel For Early Week Matchup
Tampa, Fla - The No.8 University of Tampa
Spartans welcome the Emmanuel College Lions to Naimoli Family
Athletic and Intramural Complex Monday.
Tampa comes into the game with a 4-1 record, coming off back to
back wins over Rollins College and Florida Southern. Emmanuel
enters the matchup with a 1-4 mark on the year. Last time out for
Emmanuel they fell to the Lynn Knights 17-5 .
The Spartan attack is led by the three headed monster that is
Whipple, Morris, and Vetter. Conor Whipple leads the team with 12
goals, and 11 assists. Mike Morris has also tallied eight goals of
his own including, five goals against Florida Southern College.
Rounding out the trio is Chris Vetter who put away six goals, and
recorded five assists on the year. Nationally Tampa ranks 12th in
points (68), 11th in shot percentage (.352), and 15th in assists
(30) and 17th in clearing percentage (.880).
Defensively Marty Heyn leads the Spartans with ten caused
turnovers, and will be looking to add to his totals. also playing
tenacious defense for UT is Andrew Ferriero, and Jon McGowan who've
tallied 26, and 16 groundballs each. In net A.J. Arnold has
recorded 24 saves on the year, and posted a record of 2-0. He will
look to improve both, and keep Tampa's streak alive.
Also on the defensive end Tampa is ranked 12th in the country in
caused turnovers per game (9.80).
