Arnold Earns Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player Of The Week Honors
Junior goalkeeper A.J. Arnold earned SSC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his top performances against No. 4 Lake Erie and Chestnut Hill College.
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced it's men's lacrosse Player of the Week awards Monday afternoon via the conference office. Earning the Defensive player of the week award, representing the Univerity of Tampa was junior goalkeeper A.J. Arnold.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 29 - March 6, 2016. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
Arnold has been phenomenal in the net for the Spartans going 2-0 during this past week. Arnold has hauled in 25 saves, turning in a save percentage of .657, including a top-class performance against No.4 Lake Erie where Arnold amassed 15 saves on 22 shots and posted a save percentage of .681 against a potent Storm offense that averages 11 goals per game. The Southborough, Mass. native tallied 10 saves, and .625 save percentage against the Chestnut Hill College Griffins.
The No.6 Spartans return to action Saturday, as they host the Colorado Mesa Mavericks at the Naimoli Family Athletic Complex, game time is set for 7 P.M. Live stats, as well as a web broadcast, will be available for fans to follow the action via TampaSpartans.com.
