TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa Spartans fall in the ranks to No. 19 in the latest USILA coaches poll as announced by the association, Monday.
Over the weekend the then No. 9 Spartans were defeated by the unranked Assumption College Greyhounds, 11-10. In the contest, the Spartans were without leading attackman, Andrew Kew. In his absence, sophomore Colin White led the Spartans offense with three goals in the contest. Defensively, Luke Robideaux earned one caused turnover and stated four ground balls for UT. Face-off specialist Ross Dickerson won 18 of the 23 faceoffs he took, while senior Bryan Karn played goalie for the Spartans the majority of the cage and logged seven saves.
Merrimack continues to sit at the top of the poll, followed by Adelphi remaining at the No. 2 ranking. The top five is rounded out by Limestone, Belmont Abbey, and Mercy respectively. The Sunshine State Conference is represented in the poll by No. 17 Saint Leo and No. 19 Tampa. In addition, the Florida Southern Moccasins, the Lynn Fighting Knights, the Rollins College Tars, and the Florida Tech Panthers are all receiving votes.
This week the Spartans will host North Greenville University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, UT will travel to St. Louis, Missouri where the Spartans will take on the Lions of Lindenwood at 1:00 p.m.
