Lindsey and Spartans Defeat Lynn to Remain Undefeated
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa men's lacrosse team secured an 11-6 victory over Lynn University on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
Tampa continues its dominance in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), maintaining an undefeated 4-0 record in conference play this season. Lynn's overall record now stands at 7-4, with a 2-2 mark in the SSC. Tampa improves to 13-0 overall on the year.
The Spartans have taken the last seven contests between the two programs. Tampa is now 13-1 against Lynn all-time.
How It Happened
- The Spartans initiated the scoring early in the first quarter with Davis Lindsey netting an unassisted goal at the 13:33 mark. His goal was quickly followed by a 13:01 goal by Jackson Bashaw, on a Rafe Bradshaw assist. Lynn responded shortly after at the 11:30 mark when Mitch Rini would score on a pass from Jackson Cutter, bringing the score to 2-1.
- In the second quarter, Tampa extended its lead with goals from Bradshaw and Ryan Kemp. Despite a late goal by Lynn in the quarter, the Spartans held a 5-2 advantage heading into halftime.
- The third quarter saw a flurry of activity. Tampa's Bashaw and Lindsey each added goals to their total on the day. Lynn would attempt to rally back in the quarter as they scored a trio of goals later in the quarter, but a pair of Lindsey and Bashaw goals in the final remaining minutes of the quarter would quell the Fighting Knights' attack.
- Scoring in the fourth quarter was at a premium for both teams as their defenses stepped up. The Spartans defense would hold the Fighting Knights scoreless in the final frame of place, securing the 11-6 victory.
