Men's Lacrosse Looks to Capture NCAA Title For Second Time
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The University of Tampa men's lacrosse program looks to win its second ever NCAA National Championship.
The Matchup: No. 1 University of Tampa (20–0, 7–0 SSC) vs. No. 2 Adelphi University (18–1, 7–1 NE10)
Date/Time: Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Location: Gillette Stadium, 1 Patriot Pl, Foxborough, MA 02035
Series History: The last time these two program's met was in 2020. Tampa leads the all-time series, 2-1 and the two sides will meet in a neutral site contest for the first time ever.
About the Spartans: The Spartans come into the matchup undefeated and have a chance to win its second ever NCAA National title. The last time Tampa won the title was back in 2022 where the squad finished with a perfect 22-0 record. The program has a chance to repeat history on Sunday when the team appears in its second ever championship game. Tampa has taken down Colorado Mesa, Wingate, and Maryville to advance to this stage. Connor Theriault and the Tampa defense has been stellar all season long. The Spartans scoring defense ranks fourth in the nation.
About the Panthers: Despite losing to Saint Anselm during the regualr season, the Panthers were able to defeat them in NCAA postseason play to advance to the program's second straight championship. The defending National Champions look to go back to back. The Panthers defense ranking second in all of Division II in scoring defense and are led by goalkeeper, Dylan Renner. Renner was most recently named as the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Outstanding Player of the Year by the USILA.
