Bio

A standout faceoff specialist with a proven championship pedigree, Michael Flores joins the University of Tampa coaching staff after a decorated collegiate career highlighted by being named the 2025 Sunshine State Conference Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He was also a two-time All-SSC selection and earned multiple USILA Team of the Week honors during his time in the conference.

He arrived at Tampa as a graduate transfer for the 2025 season and immediately became one of the nation’s most dominant possession leaders. Throughout the 2025 campaign, he delivered key performances in high-profile matchups, including a 20-for-26 performance against No. 3 Limestone and three goals scored during postseason play.

Before his time with the Spartans, Flores was a standout at Saint Leo University, where he earned All-SSC honors in both 2023 and 2024 while consistently ranking among the top faceoff specialists in Division II. His junior season was one for the record books, as he collected 154 ground balls, the fourth-most nationally, while leading the country in ground balls per game.

Over the course of his career, he recorded multiple seasons above 60% at the faceoff X, surpassed 500 ground balls, and developed a reputation for controlling tempo and possession in critical moments. His skill, consistency, and competitive edge became defining features of his play and leadership.

A graduate of Montverde Academy, he served as a team captain, earned MVP honors, and was a member of the President’s Club. He holds a degree in marketing with a minor in accounting and now brings leadership, technical expertise at the faceoff X, and championship experience to the University of Tampa coaching staff.
