J.B. Clarke Featured on NLL Lacrosse Talk
TORONTO – Fresh off leading the University of Tampa men's lacrosse program to its second NCAA Division II National Championship in five seasons, head coach J.B. Clarke recently appeared as a special guest on NLL Lacrosse Talk with Candid Frank Stanisci & Gary Groob.
Clarke joined fellow Hall of Fame coach "Bullet" Bob Tarring for an in-depth discussion covering the growth of lacrosse, coaching philosophies, player development and the continued evolution of both the field and box games. The episode featured two of the sport's most respected figures sharing stories from their careers and offering insights into the state of the game across North America.
The appearance comes on the heels of another historic season for Tampa men's lacrosse. Clarke guided the Spartans to a 22-1 record in 2026, culminating with the program's second NCAA Division II National Championship under his leadership. The title added to an already remarkable coaching résumé that includes five NCAA national championships as a head coach.
Clarke's first national championship came at Limestone in 2014 before leading the Saints to additional NCAA crowns in 2015 and 2017. Since arriving at Tampa, he has continued that championship success, leading the Spartans to national titles in 2022 and 2026 while helping establish the program among the elite teams in Division II lacrosse.
Over 29 seasons as a collegiate head coach at Greensboro, Washington College, Limestone and Tampa, Clarke has compiled a career record of 416-100 (.806). His teams have consistently competed at the national level, advancing deep into NCAA Tournament play while capturing numerous conference championships and postseason titles.
At Tampa, Clarke has posted a 95-8 record through five seasons, including four Sunshine State Conference regular-season championships, four SSC Tournament championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances, two NCAA national championships and a national runner-up finish in 2025. His 2022 squad completed a perfect 21-0 season en route to the national title, while the 2026 Spartans finished 22-1 and secured the program's second championship under his direction.
A member of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Clarke remains one of the most influential figures in the sport and continues to impact the game through his coaching, mentorship, and leadership at the collegiate level.
